Balchem acquires Innovative Food Processors

Balchem, a US-based firm which provides solutions and products for a range of industries globally, has acquired nutrition ingredients maker Innovative Food Processors (IFP) for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered in Faribault, Minnesota, IFP manufactures agglomerated and microencapsulated food and nutrition ingredients.

IFP’s processing capabilities focus on agglomeration and microencapsulation technologies. The company collaborates with food, beverage and nutrition customers globally.

It has two manufacturing facilities in Faribault and Hayfield, Minnesota. With a manufacturing site of over 150,000ft², the company produces powders using the most advanced powder food processing available.

The acquisition enables Balchem to extend its footprint in processing technology and market reach.

IFP is collaborated with Human Nutrition and Health arm of Balchem that comprises of Nutrition and Pharma and Ingredient Solutions.

Balchem will integrate IFP into its human nutrition and health business segment, which features the nutrition and pharma business unit that offers nutrition products like VitaCholine and Albion minerals.

The segment also includes the ingredient solutions business unit, which delivers food and beverage solutions under the SensoryEffects brand.

IFP has tailored processing potential that aims at agglomeration and microencapsulation technologies. It has over 35 years of experience in integrating with food, beverage and nutrition customers.

Balchem vice president and general manager Mike Size said: “We are very excited to bring IFP’s ingredient technology, processing capabilities and product portfolio into our company.

“This acquisition creates a broader ingredient-systems platform for Balchem that will help our customers improve their consumer food and beverage offerings.”

Balchem, which employs more than 1,000 people globally, consists of four business segments that include human nutrition & health; animal nutrition & health; specialty products; and industrial products.
